INTRODUCTION 

My name is  Karen McDermott, and I'm not a marketer (which is why it's a little difficult to find me);  I'm a teacher.  I've been helping other Los Angeles area teachers pass the CSET English Exam for more than eight years.

I was hired by Los Angeles Unified School District to teach Praxis, SSAT, and CSET classes to my fellow-teachers in 2002, while teaching high school English for Los Angeles Unified School District.  Today, I teach Business English classes at Glendale College an continue to offer CSET seminars a few times per year.

I earned my BA in English from Rutgers University, my Juris Doctorate from USD School of Law, and my Master's Degree in English from California State University. 

I practiced law for five years before transitioning into teaching, and used many of the test-taking techniques that helped me pass the California Bar Exam in the creation of my CSET study guides.

 

 

 

MY APPROACH

My classes and study materials are very straight-forward.  I cover exactly what you need to know to pass this exam, with no time-wasting, irrelevant information.

WORRIED ABOUT THE ESSAYS?

The essay sections (subtests three and four) are my speciality.  My step-by-step approach is based on writing to the rubric.  I've created a fill-in-the blank essay template which virtually writes your essay FOR you.
